We are two Balinese youths who are deeply concerned about the current state of tourism in our beloved homeland, affectionately known as the Island of the Gods. As the largest industry here, tourism has been a source of prosperity for us for many years. However, it has recently taken a turn for the worse, threatening the very sustainability of our island. We have witnessed this decline throughout our lives, and it is imperative that someone takes responsibility and makes a change.

Someone needs to be responsible and make a change. RUMA is our platform for making a small step of change for this land. RUMA came from the word “rumah,” which in Indonesian means “home.” We want RUMA to be the house where we can collectively make the change we need for a better future of local tourism and its impact on the local people, heritage, and culture.
